Wisconsin Department of Veterans Affairs (WDVA)
"Making a difference in the lives of Wisconsin veterans"

The Wisconsin Veterans Home at Union Grove (WVHUG) is currently recruiting for multiple limited-term employment (LTE) Laundry Worker positions. WVHUG is a skilled nursing, long-term care facility that specializes in providing comfort, support, and professional medical services to elderly or disabled veterans and their spouses. The Home is located a short drive from Milwaukee, Racine, Kenosha and other key locations throughout southeastern Wisconsin.

LTE jobs are limited to 1039 hours in a 12-month period and do not include benefits.

Position Summary:   

This position is responsible for sorting, washing and folding laundry; operating laundry-processing equipment; restocking bed and bath linens; and returning all members' personal items. The position also maintains a clean work area.

Job duties include lifting and moving laundry bags weighing up to 70 pounds; moving laundry carts weighing between 80 and 200 pounds; and standing for prolonged periods of time.

Special Notes:   

Per Wisconsin Statute 230.26, Wisconsin residency is required for LTE appointments.

Due to the nature of the position, WDVA will conduct criminal background checks prior to a job offer.

Employment in this position is contingent upon passing a pre-employment tuberculosis (TB) test.

Applicants must be legally authorized to work in the United States (e.g., a citizen or national of the U.S., a lawful permanent resident, an alien authorized to work in the U.S. without WDVA sponsorship) at the time of application.

Qualifications:   

Minimally-qualified applicants will have experience:

  • Performing manual labor (e.g., loading, operating and unloading commercial washers and tumble dryers; folding clothing and linens; picking up laundry loads; bundling clothing, etc.); and
  • Following safety rules and guidelines; and
  • Following instructions and procedures
