The Facilities Management Specialist 2 position is in pay schedule/range 07-03 with a starting hourly salary of $26 - $32 per hour (or $54,080-$66,560 annually) commensurate with experience. A 12 month probationary period will be required. Pay for current state employees or those with reinstatement eligibility will be set in accordance with the WI Compensation Plan.

This full time permanent position is located within the Bureau of Business Services, Division of Business Management, Department of Transportation headquartered at the new Hill Farms State Office Building on the near west side of Madison. Position Summary:   

This position is responsible for providing facility management services such as managing and overseeing maintenance and repair of building systems, space management and design, building and grounds maintenance, and ensuring responsible project administration in areas of construction, operation, alteration, repair and maintenance.

This position requires strong analytical and problem solving skills to evaluate and estimate the tangible and intangible costs of maintenance, repair, and recommendations for new construction or renovation. The incumbent of this position interacts with the Department of Administration (DOA) and other outside entities on facility and project management related matters.

This position requires good judgement, the ability to communicate professionally, be responsive to management and customer's needs, deal effectively with time sensitive situations, make technically and legally sound recommendations and decisions and develop and maintain effective working relationships.

Special Notes:   

Occasional in-state travel is required to visit remote work locations.

Minimally qualified applicants must have experience in all of the areas below in order to be considered:

• Performing project management duties (which may include planning projects; preparing project justifications; preparing and monitoring budgets associated with the project; reviewing, certifying and approving requests for payments; forecasting total costs; or approving project changes, etc.)
• Troubleshooting and implementing comprehensive solutions for issues or problems

A well qualified applicant will also have experience in one or more of the following: 

• Working with commercial building system operations, maintenance and/or management (which may include working with mechanical, pneumatic, electrical, plumbing, HVAC, direct digital temperature control systems, computerized maintenance management systems, etc.)
• Reading and interpreting building plans and/or specifications

• Utilizing AutoCAD
