Pay is between $28 - $33/hour ($58,240 - $68,640 annually). Pay on appointment for current or former state employees may vary based on the applicable provisions in the State Compensation Plan. This position is in Pay Schedule / Range 07-03. Current State employees considered as transfer will require DPM approval for pay on transfer increases. This person will provide support to the accounts payable team and Bureau of Finance. They will work cross departmentally to ensure customer service in the processing of accounting tasks. The accountant will compile and analyze financial data, resolve discrepancies, perform reconciliations and communicate best practices.
Employment will require the selected candidate to pass a background check. DNR does not sponsor work visas, thus, in compliance with federal law, all persons hired will be required to verify eligibility to work in the United States by completing the required I-9 form upon hire.
Required skills for this position include all of the following: - Bachelor’s degree or higher in Accounting (or similar) OR professional accounting skills (e.g. reconciling accounts, general ledger journals, auditing financial records, approval of financial transactions, etc.) - Interpreting and applying complex rules or requirements, such as State government accounting manual/ auditing principles or state / federal regulations / State compensation plan, including Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP) or Generally Accepted Auditing Standards (GAAS) - Use of computerized systems including Microsoft office and financial software programs (e.g. Quickbooks, PeopleSoft, etc.)
Preferred qualifications include the following: - Bachelor’s degree or higher in Accounting or Finance - CPA license - Experience processing Accounts Payable - Professional accounting experience for State government - Updating or creating procedural or training documentation
