Starting wage is between $20.64 and $22.51 per hour, with additional compensation for weekends, nights, holidays and overtime, plus an attractive benefits package. Half-time positions do not receive benefits. This position is in pay schedule and range 06-05. For current or eligible former State employees, pay on appointment will be set in accordance with the applicable provisions of the Wisconsin
Compensation Plan. A 12-month probationary period may be required.

This position is responsible for providing quality, routine, direct and indirect patient care for geriatric and/or disabled members of WVHUG. Duties include assisting the Registered Nurse in making critical observations of clients and assisting in complex care situations; working directly with families; providing assistance in personal care; administering and documenting treatments and medication; participating in the maintenance of care unit; and working with an interdisciplinary team.
The position requires working varying hours and/or overtime shifts (e.g., alternate weekends, rotating holidays, extra hours/double shifts, etc.). The job duties require the ability to move, reposition and transport patients; use special safety equipment and wear protective clothing; lift, carry, push and pull supplies and equipment; and walk, stand, sit, reach, kneel and/or stoop, up to 75% of an 8-hour day.

Applicants must be legally authorized to work in the United States (i.e., a citizen or national of the U.S., a lawful permanent resident, an alien authorized to work in the U.S. without WDVA sponsorship) at the time of application.
Minimally-qualified applicants will be licensed or eligible for licensure as a Practical Nurse in the State of Wisconsin or Nurse Licensure Compact State and will have experience:
Providing basic nursing care (e.g., treatments, first aid, patient calls, positioning and moving patients, preparing patients for procedures, ensuring safety, infection control, following rules for patient rights and privacy, etc.); and
Administering medications with attention to drug properties and possible side effects; and
Working collaboratively (e.g., teamwork, professional relationships, verbal communications, etc.); and
Using computers and applications (e.g., email, reports, electronic charting, etc.)
Well-qualified applicants will also have experience:
Providing advanced practical nursing care; and/or
Performing nursing duties in a long-term care, geriatric, skilled nursing, or other relevant setting
