The Wisconsin Veterans Home at King (WVHK) is a skilled nursing, long-term care facility that specializes in providing comfort, support, and professional medical services to elderly or disabled veterans and their spouses. The facility is located on the picturesque shoreline of the Chain O'Lakes, off Highway 10 between Stevens Point and Appleton. We are currently seeking part-time and full-time Nursing Assistants for all shifts.
Sign-On Bonus of $2000.00 for eligible employees who agree to remain in the position for one year ($1000 paid out on first paycheck, $1000 paid when permanent status has been attained).

Nursing Assistant 2 employees at our facility perform objective-level work, providing direct and indirect nursing care, for geriatric, disabled and/or cognitively impaired clients at the Veterans Home. This care is designed to meet the therapeutic, preventative, restorative, spiritual, psychosocial, cognitive and rehabilitative needs of WVHK members. This position works as an integral part of the health care team under the limited supervision of a Nursing Supervisor and under the direction of licensed nursing staff.

This position requires the ability to work in the conditions of the job (e.g., provide patients with assistance in mobility efforts; perform light housekeeping; maintain hygiene; use special safety equipment; wear protective clothing; lift, carry, push, pull, reach, sit, kneel, squat, stand and/or walk up to 75% of an 8-hour day; etc.).
Due to the nature of the position, WDVA will conduct background checks on applicants prior to an offer of employment.
Employment in this position is contingent upon passing a pre-employment physical and tuberculosis (TB) test.
Applicants must be legally authorized to work in the United States (i.e., a citizen or national of the U.S., a lawful permanent resident, an alien authorized to work in the U.S. without WDVA sponsorship) at the time of application.
A minimally-qualified applicant must be 18 years of age on or before the effective date of the appointment and have the following:
A well-qualified applicant will also have experience:
- Currently certified or eligible for certification as a Nursing Assistant in the State of Wisconsin and eligible to work in a federally-certified nursing home as a Certified Nursing Assistant; and
- Ability to work varying hours and/or overtime shifts as required; and
- Experience providing Basic Nursing Care; and
- Experience with Interpersonal Communication; and
- Experience with Medical Recordkeeping
- Providing Advanced Nursing Care
- Maintaining Equipment and Inventory
- Using Computers
- Performing Safety and/or Security Functions
- Working in a Relevant Setting (i.e., health care, geriatrics, 24/7 facility)
