The Department of Natural Resources is hiring 4 LTE - Laborers in our Point Beach State Forest location at 9400 County O in Two Rivers, WI.

Position Summary:   

LTE - Laborer

The Wisconsin DNR is looking to hire 4 LTE - Laborers at our Point Beach State Forest. The location is a busy outdoor recreation area located on the shores of Lake Michigan. These positions are responsible for cleaning park facilities, beach areas, camp sites, picking up litter, mowing grass, and removing trees and brush. The positons will perform some general maintenance duties such as installing signs, hauling garbage, painting picnic tables and grills, and developing and maintaining trail surfaces. Laborers will be required to work weekends and holidays. Work shifts are available starting on weekends in May, then full time from Memorial Day through Labor Day. Up to 40 hours per week in September and October may be available as well. Additional $0.45 per hour for evening work after 6:00PM and $0.60 per hour for Saturday and Sunday work. You will be paid at time and one half for holiday hours worked.

50% - Clean restrooms, beach areas, campfire rings and picnic grills. Pick up litter. Remove trees and brush. Mow grass.

30% - Perform general maintenance duties. Develop and maintain trail surfaces. Install signs. Haul garbage. Paint picnic tables and grills.

10% - Operate vehicles and light equipment.

10% - Perform minor plumbing and electrical duties.

Special Notes:   

This is a limited term (LTE) position.  Limited term positions do not automatically lead to or enjoy the same benefits as permanent employment, but this position does offer valuable work experience and an opportunity to learn more about career opportunities with the Department of Natural Resources and the State of Wisconsin.  LTE employees are limited to working 1039 hours within a twelve-month period. In order to be considered for this position, you must be a resident of the State of Wisconsin.

Employment will require the selected candidate to pass a background check.  DNR does not sponsor work visas, thus, in compliance with federal law, all persons hired will be required to verify eligibility to work in the United States by completing the required I-9 form upon hire.

Qualifications:   

Required Qualifications:
- Must be at least 18 years of age, possess a valid WI driver's license, and have two years driving experience
- Able to lift 40 pounds and able to perform physical work
- Available to work weekends and holidays

Preferred Qualifications:
- Prior work experience in janitorial services
- Prior work experience with lawn/landscape equipment (including riding mowers, operating weed whips etc.)
