The Department of Natural Resources is hiring 2 LTE - Laborers in our Wildcat Mountain State Park location at E. 13660 Highway 33 in Ontario, WI.

Position Summary:   

LTE - Laborers

These positions are responsible for the day-to-day cleaning and maintenance of the parks, trails, and facilities. The successful candidates will be self-starters with a positive attitude. Additionally, the candidates must be able to work both independently and function as part of a team. A large part of the positions involve keeping the buildings and grounds presentable for park and trail visitors.

60% - Clean and maintain day use areas and campgrounds. This includes daily building cleaning, mowing, litter pickup, and cleaning fire rings and grills in campgrounds, picnic areas, shelters, restrooms, and office.

20% - Perform general grounds and trail maintenance including mowing, brushing, trimming, installing signs, and paint and repair picnic tables.

20% - Perform general maintenance and minor plumbing, electrical, and carpentry work. Answer questions and provide directions to the public. Other duties as assigned. Wear required uniform and be a positive representative of the department.

Special Notes:   

This is a limited term (LTE) position.  Limited term positions do not automatically lead to or enjoy the same benefits as permanent employment, but this position does offer valuable work experience and an opportunity to learn more about career opportunities with the Department of Natural Resources and the State of Wisconsin.  LTE employees are limited to working 1039 hours within a twelve-month period. In order to be considered for this position, you must be a resident of the State of Wisconsin.

Employment will require the selected candidate to pass a background check.  DNR does not sponsor work visas, thus, in compliance with federal law, all persons hired will be required to verify eligibility to work in the United States by completing the required I-9 form upon hire.

Qualifications:   

Required Qualifications:
- Ability to work independently, be self-motivated and punctual
- Knowledge and skills in general and preventative maintenance duties including janitorial, grounds work, cleaning, and painting.
- Training or experience in vehicle operations including 4-wheel drive, tractors, and mowers.
- Experience operating hand and power tools including chainsaws.
- Ability to work outside in difficult weather conditions.
- Due to equipment usage, applicants must have a valid driver's license, a minimum of two years licensed driving experience, and must be at least 18 years of age.
- Ability to work holiday, weekends, and some evening shifts.

Preferred Qualifications:
- Knowledge, skills, and experience of general maintenance operations
- Experience with building and facility or repair maintenance experience
