The Department of Natural Resources is hiring 7 LTE - Facilities Repair Workers in our Peninsula State Park location at 9462 Shore Road in Fish Creek, WI!

Position Summary:   

LTE - Facilities Repair Worker

The positions will perform a variety of maintenance related tasks including basic building maintenance repairs, grounds keeping, and improvements on both the interior and exterior of our facilities. These positions assist staff at Peninsula with grounds and facilities management. Additionally, the positions will maintain and operate equipment, perform repairs to facilities, and clean facilities. The positions will start at the beginning of May and end in October. The positions will require weekend and holiday work. There are pay differentials: an additional $0.45 per hour for evening work after 6:00PM and $0.60 per hour for Saturday and Sunday work. The position will be paid at time and one half for holiday work. Housing is available on property for those who are interested.

40% - Grounds Maintenance: Operate equipment. Mow and trim grass at campgrounds, day use areas and trails. Paint buildings and picnic tables. Pick up litter, clean public use areas, haul garbage, and maintain fire rings and grills. Minor road repair. Remove brush and cut down hazard trees.

40% - Facility Maintenance: Operate equipment. Maintain restrooms, shower facilities, and other park buildings. Perform minor facility repairs including but not limited to plumbing, doors, windows, walls, and concrete.

20% - Repair and Maintain equipment: Repair small motors, maintain mowing equipment, chainsaws, and other maintenance tools and equipment

Special Notes:   

This is a limited term (LTE) position. Limited term positions do not automatically lead to or enjoy the same benefits as permanent employment, but this position does offer valuable work experience and an opportunity to learn more about career opportunities with the Department of Natural Resources and the State of Wisconsin. LTE employees are limited to working 1039 hours within a twelve-month period. In order to be considered for this position, you must be a resident of the State of Wisconsin. Non-residents may apply, but must meet residency requirements upon hire.

Employment will require the selected candidate to pass a background check.  DNR does not sponsor work visas, thus, in compliance with federal law, all persons hired will be required to verify eligibility to work in the United States by completing the required I-9 form upon hire.

Qualifications:   

Required Qualifications:
- Knowledge, skills and experience of general maintenance duties such as janitorial, grounds work, and painting.
- Building/facility or repair maintenance experience.
- Experience using hand and power tools including chain saws.
-Ability to communicate effectively with co-workers and public.
- Training or experience in vehicle operations including 4-wheel drive trucks, tractors, dump trucks.
- Ability to perform physical work, often involving lifting heavy objects
- Ability to work independently and as a team, be self-motivated and punctual.
- Must be at least 18 years old to operate vehicles and some equipment.
