The Department of Natural Resources is hiring 7 LTE - Parks and Recreation Specialists. Four Parks and Recreation Specialists will be stationed in our Pattison State Park at 6294 S. State Road 35 in Superior, WI and three Parks and Recreation Specialists will be stationed in our Amnicon Falls State Park at 4279 County Highway U in South Range, WI.

Position Summary:   

LTE - Parks and Recreation Specialists

The Pattison State Park and Amnicon State Park are looking to hire Parks and Recreation Specialists to help maintain the beautiful parks and their wide variety of facilities. These positions are responsible for providing customer and maintenance support throughout the properties. Duties will involve working outdoors and indoors selling vehicle admission stickers, registering campers, providing information to park visitors, inspecting, cleaning and grounds-keeping of buildings, facilities, campgrounds, day use, and picnic areas throughout the properties. Other duties will require the use and operation of vehicles and equipment.

50% - Mow grass, pick up litter, clean beach areas, restrooms, campfire rings, and picnic grills. Remove trees and brush. Sell vehicle admission stickers, register campers, and provide information to park visitors. 

30% - Perform general maintenance duties. Develop and maintain trail surfaces. Install signs, haul garbage, paint benches and picnic tables. Prune hiking trails.

10% - Perform minor plumbing and electrical duties.

10% - Operate vehicles and light equipment.

Special Notes:   

This is a limited term (LTE) position. Limited term positions do not automatically lead to or enjoy the same benefits as permanent employment, but this position does offer valuable work experience and an opportunity to learn more about career opportunities with the Department of Natural Resources and the State of Wisconsin. LTE employees are limited to working 1039 hours within a twelve-month period. In order to be considered for this position, you must be a resident of the State of Wisconsin. Non-residents may apply, but must meet residency requirements upon hire.

Employment will require the selected candidate to pass a background check. DNR does not sponsor work visas, thus, in compliance with federal law, all persons hired will be required to verify eligibility to work in the United States by completing the required I-9 form upon hire.

Qualifications:   

Required Qualifications:
- Knowledge, skills and experience of general maintenance operations
- Building/facility or repair maintenance experience
- Ability to work independently, be self-motivated and punctual
- Possess a valid driver's license
- Ability to be certified to drive a UTV
- Ability to work a modified schedule that includes nights, weekends, holidays, etc.

Preferred Qualifications:
-
Customer service and cash handling experience
- Experience repairing or maintaining small engines 
- Knowledge of plumbing and/or carpentry
- Chainsaw safety certification
- Lawn care and/or landscaping experience
