The Department of Natural Resources is hiring up to 25 LTE - Nursery Laborers in our DNR Wilson Nursery location at 5350 Highway 133 E in Boscobel, WI!

Position Summary:   

LTE - Nursery Laborer

The Wisconsin Department of Natural Resources, Wilson State Nursery in Boscobel, WI, is hiring up to 25 individuals to work in the spring tree seedling distribution program! Wisconsin's forest nursery program has been a leader in the stewardship of natural resources since 1911, producing over 1.5 billion tree and wildlife shrub seedlings. Reforestation efforts utilizing state nursery stock improve wildlife habitat, prevent soil erosion, conserve energy, and provide aesthetic beauty. Annually, between 3 to 5 million seedlings are produced for reforestation projects on state, county, industrial, and private lands. Nursery Laborers are responsible for a variety of duties include lifting, grading and packing tree seedlings. Laborers will also be responsible for assisting with stock care such as weeding and facilities and equipment care. These are temporary jobs (3 to 5 weeks) which will begin in late March. Flexible work schedules will be considered on a case by case basis.

75% Grading, lifting, packing seedlings for seedling distribution season.

20% Assisting with stock care including weeding, as well and facilities and equipment care.

5% Administrative duties include time sheets, training, record keeping.

Special Notes:   

This is a limited term (LTE) position. Limited term positions do not automatically lead to or enjoy the same benefits as permanent employment, but this position does offer valuable work experience and an opportunity to learn more about career opportunities with the Department of Natural Resources and the State of Wisconsin. LTE employees are limited to working 1039 hours within a twelve-month period. In order to be considered for this position, you must be a resident of the State of Wisconsin. Non-residents may apply, but must meet residency requirements upon hire.

Employment will require the selected candidate to pass a background check.  DNR does not sponsor work visas, thus, in compliance with federal law, all persons hired will be required to verify eligibility to work in the United States by completing the required I-9 form upon hire.
