The Wisconsin Historical Society is searching for an enthusiastic and dynamic Teamster to join our team at our Wade House Historic Site.

Wade House Historic Site offers a glimpse back to a horse-powered world. Experience what it was like when travelers and horses rested in Greenbush for a time and when life and business in the area bustled as the new town grew and prospered.

Position Summary:   

Under general supervision the Teamster is responsible for the general function of the horse drawn wagon rides which transport visitors to the various buildings on the site.


Core functions include:
-Maintain wagons, trains and tack in a safe and functioning order
-Keeps horses fed and corrals clean.
-Transport visitors around the site according to schedule.
-Provide assistance and guidance to site visitors in a courteous and professional manner.
-Giver accurate visitor information en route, with timed scripted and unscripted information about the museum, museum programs and activities.
-Follow procedures for maintaining a clean and safe work environment.  Follow cleaning schedules and regulations.


Seasonal position.  Schedule may include working regular Saturday and/or Sunday shifts.

Qualifications:   

A qualified candidate will have the following Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:
1. Experience handling horses.
2. Experience single or team driving.
3. Ability to take direction and work independently.
4. Ability to follow strict safety guidelines.
5. Ability to handle cold temperatures outdoors while sedentary.
6. Ability to lift 50 pounds.
7. Must be friendly, outgoing, courteous, and have excellent customer service and communication skills.
