The starting wage is between $32.41 and $36.96 per hour with additional compensation for weekends, nights, holidays and overtime. Positions at 60% of full-time or greater are eligible for an attractive benefits package. Sign-on bonus of $2000 for eligible employees. This position is in pay schedule-range 11-02. For current or eligible former State employees, pay on appointment will be set in accordance with the Wisconsin Compensation Plan. A 12-month probationary period may be required.

The Wisconsin Department of Veterans Affairs (WDVA) is currently recruiting for multiple Nurse Clinician 2 (Registered Nurse) positions to provide direct and indirect care to members of our Veterans Home at Union Grove. The Home is a 24/7/365 long-term care facility that specializes in providing comfort, support and professional medical services to elderly or disabled veterans and their spouses. Our facility is located a short drive from Milwaukee, Racine, Kenosha and other key locations throughout southeastern Wisconsin. Come join our quality nursing team!

Sign-On Bonus of $2000 for eligible employees who agree to remain in the position for one year. The first $1000 will be paid in the employee's first paycheck and the second $1000 will be paid when the employee attains permanent status.

Position Summary:

This professional nursing position is responsible for providing direct and indirect patient care to a mostly geriatric and/or disabled population. The incumbent provides direction to other staff in the provision and coordination of member care, and monitors care given by other health team members on a unit, floor, or in a building. All activities are performed in accordance with applicable industry standards of practice, facility policies/procedures, and state and federal rules and regulations.

Nurse Clinician 2 positions work multiple shifts, weekends, holidays and overtime as needed. Job duties require the ability to assist in mobility efforts, stand and/or walk up to 75% of eight hour day to provide assessments, kneel, stoop, make visual observations, lift, push, pull, carry, reach, maintain hygiene, use special safety equipment and wear protective clothing.

Employment in this position is contingent upon passing a pre-employment tuberculosis (TB) test.

Minimally-qualified applicants will hold or be able to obtain licensure as a Registered Nurse in the State of Wisconsin and will be able to work varying hours and/or overtime shifts (e.g., alternate weekends, rotating holidays, extra hours/double shifts, etc.).

Well-qualified applicants will also have experience:

  • Providing nursing care (e.g., assessing and documenting patient status, providing direct and indirect patient care, providing treatments, investigating and solving problems, assisting and training other staff, directing activities based on patient needs, etc.); and/or
  • Working collaboratively (e.g., interdisciplinary healthcare teams, developing and implementing care plans, providing feedback, etc.); and/or
  • Using computer systems and applications (e.g., Microsoft Office Suite, electronic charting systems, etc.)
