Waushara County is hiring for a Full-Time Behavioral Health Nurse with Human Services. This position is part of an interdisciplinary team provides professional nursing services to individuals diagnosed with mental illness. The nurse will work with clinical and case management staff to coordinate care and assist in treatment plans for consumers in accordance with standards, codes, and regulations of the Wisconsin Department of Health and Family Services.
Position Summary:
1. Ensure the provision of nursing services is within the scope of Wisconsin nursing practice.2. Ensure that nurse nursing services and related documentation comply with Federal laws, State statutes, administrative codes and applicable policies and procedures.3. Consult with psychiatrist and other behavioral health staff in development and evaluations of treatment plans to ensure that medication is integrated into consumer recovery plans. 4. Ensure that nursing services are provided in a courteous, confidential and culturally sensitive manner. 5. Facilitate communication between psychiatrists, pharmacies and consumers. 6. Provide nursing services with consumers in the office or in the community as clinically appropriate and consistent with the level of care required. 7. Act as liaison between the consumer/family and attending psychiatrist. Provide education on medication prescribed. 8. Administer and document reactions to psychotropic drugs and other medication. 9. Arrange for medical attention when necessary. 10. Review chart and follow psychiatrist recommendations/orders after each appointment. 11. Monitor lab reports and update psychiatrist of abnormal values. 12. Coordinate services provided to families by agency staff and other involved community agencies and providers to assist clients in securing medical care and other appropriate community services. 13. Monitor psychiatrist schedule and make adjustments based on client needs. 14. Maintain adequate records according to policies. 15. Provide prompt, efficient and responsive service to co-workers and consumers. 16. Participate in unit meetings, staff meetings, supervisory conferences and case conferences concerning case planning and provision of services within and outside the agency. 17. Participate in staff development, training programs and other in-service programs as may be required. Demonstrate positive effects of completed training. 18. Keep scheduled appointments and be on time for assigned responsibilities.19. Maintain confidentiality and appropriate boundaries.20. Support County, agency and unit missions and goals. 21. Provide and accept feedback regarding workload and agency operations.22. Maintain regular and predictable job attendance.
Education, Training and Experience: *Associate Degree or Diploma in Nursing from an accredited program. *Current licensure with the state of Wisconsin as a Registered Nurse. *Current Wisconsin driver’s license with access to a motor vehicle on a regular basis. Proof of automobile insurance per County policy. *Annual TB skin test screening for High Risk followed by testing if appropriate. Knowledge, Ability and Skills: *Experience working with individual who have mental health and/or substance abuse problems or other behavioral health issues. *Knowledge of legal limitations and standards of nursing and medical practice in Wisconsin. *Ability to work in an environment independently. *Knowledge of community resources and agencies. *Ability to implement the nursing process: assessment, problem identification, care planning, intervention, follow-up, and evaluation. *Ability to apply time-management skills, prioritize job-related activities and adhere to schedules and timelines. *Ability to communicate courteously and politely with persons of varying levels of education. *Understand, value and work with diverse populations in a culturally sensitive manner. *Ability to maintain accurate, complete and legally correct documentation on paper and a computer-word processing software system. *Knowledge of charting audits. *Ability to communicate effectively both orally and in writing in a timely manner, and maintain confidentiality at all times. *Knowledge of evaluation techniques. *Ability to demonstrate leadership, independent and good judgment, and critical thinking skills. *Ability to accommodate flexible scheduling to address program or client needs. *Ability to work in a variety of different situations, environments, and programs to meet the consumer’s needs.
