Starting wage is $16.04 per hour, plus an excellent benefits package (05-11). Additionally, employees are eligible for a $2.00 per hour add-on to the hourly rate for carrying a firearm while on duty. (The employer will provide the required firearm training.) These positions also have Protective Occupation Status within the Wisconsin Retirement System, which is an accelerated retirement benefit. For current permanent state employees, pay will be set in accordance with the State Comp Plan.

These positions provide armed security services to protect property and persons from sabotage, fire, espionage, theft, vandalism, and other hazards; control entry and exit of all personnel, vehicles and other equipment at entry points to the National Guard Facility or Base; assist and direct visitors; enforce parking regulations; ensure compliance with all applicable federal, state and local regulations, rules and laws; prepare and maintain records and documents; monitor base alarm systems; and attend training and safety classes.
Must be at least 18 years old; possess a high school diploma, GED or HSED; pass a criminal background check prior to hire and be successful in obtaining a Department of Defense security clearance following appointment.
Successful candidates will be required to pass a pre-employment medical evaluation, including a drug screen: a psychological assessment; and will be required to complete a fitness/agility test consisting of; push-ups (18), sit ups (24), sprint (300 meter in 90 seconds), run (1.5 mile in 20 min), push (67lbs), pull (77lbs), drag/carry (145lbs-25ft) and lift (70lbs).
Positions located at Wisconsin Air National Guard bases require possession of a valid Wisconsin driver’s license upon appointment and must obtain a military driver license following hire.
