Job Duties: This position is responsible for administration of the Resource Sharing Technology Section, including selection and supervision of staff, short and long-range planning, evaluation of services, and other tasks. This position provides primary administration of the WISCAT statewide union and virtual catalogs and interlibrary loan management system programs and oversight of the State Library Agency Processing Center, BadgerLink authentication and training, the Wisconsin Document Depository Program, the Wisconsin Digital Archives and the library's cataloging, acquisition, circulation, and shipping operations. This section is a unit of the Interlibrary Loan and Resource Sharing Team. For more information regarding WISCAT, please visit http://wiscat.net. Part of the selection process may include a criminal background check. Job Knowledge, Skills and Abilities: Knowledge of the development of computerized bibliographic databases; cataloging library materials and creating and updating bibliographic databases for library applications using national standards; data processing procedures necessary for bibliographic data; library technical services operations; cataloging rules and procedures; OCLC cataloging and interlibrary loan procedures; interlibrary loan processes and procedures; procedures for writing specifications and negotiating contracts; small group and individual training techniques; workshop organization procedures and methods; consultation procedures; long-range planning methods; principles, practices, and techniques of management of personnel; interviewing techniques and practices; telecommunications concepts and applications; online catalog searching, design and use; library automation standards (MARC21, Z39.50, SIP2, NCIP, ISO); procedures for circulation of materials, shipping, acquisitions and serials control; and computer programs (MS Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Access). Skill in verbal and written communication; negotiation; supervision and coaching; planning and goal setting; and the ability to direct and/or facilitate group meetings and provide training.
