Salary:
The starting salary is between $33,581 and 53,841 per year, depending upon qualifications, plus excellent benefits. The pay schedule/range is 07/04. A 6-month probationary period is required. This position is represented by the Fiscal and Staff Services bargaining unit.

The Department of Health and Family Services (DHFS); Division of Public Health (DPH); Bureau of Health Information and Policy (BHIP) in Milwaukee.

Job Duties:   This position promotes and maintains community partnerships that increase the availability of culturally-appropriate healthcare services, including AIDS/HIV prevention and care services, to members of the African American community.  This position also facilitates communication between local communities and central office personnel to identify local health needs and develop regional policies based on local health needs; increases the accessibility of vital care services and their successful promotion within the community; actively consults with the Department of Public Health staff in developing statewide strategic plans and policies designed to address racial and ethnic health disparities, including the Healthiest Wisconsin ten year plans and the Wisconsin AIDS/HIV Comprehensive Plan; expands and enhances relationships with minority organizations; develops and maintains a strong presence in communities of color; advises the Division of Public Health on cultural issues for outreach activities with community organizations; collaborates with the Minority Health Program in disseminating findings on minority health issues, evidence-based, and community-based interventions to minority communities; and coordinates and collaborates with other public health partners.  The position serves as a liaison between the Department and a wide variety of external organizations.

Job Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:   

Knowledge of applied principles and practices of health care policy and public health; minority health and AIDS/HIV programming; and principles of program planning, integration, and evaluation.  Ability to translate health policy and research information into formats that are accessible to a wide variety of community audiences; establish and maintain effective working relationships and coalitions with a wide variety of agencies and individuals; prepare a variety of health and health policy reports and presentations; guide the work of others and provide constructive program guidance; and effectively communicate orally and in writing.
