The WI Department of Transportation (WI DOT), Division of Business Management, Bureau of Business Services is seeking fiscally minded people for Purchasing Agent-Senior vacancies in their Purchasing Unit which is responsible for annually procuring approximately $100 million of goods and services. These positions are located at the Hill Farms State Office Building at 4802 Sheboygan Avenue in Madison. The register created from this exam may be used to fill additional vacancies with the DOT.

DOT is located on Madison's near-west side and offers low-cost parking, an on-site cafeteria and credit union, and plenty of nearby restaurants and shopping venues. In addition the State of WI has an extensive vanpool program traveling to/from many of the surrounding communities.

Job Duties:   This is a professional purchasing position within the Wisconsin Department of Transportation (DOT) Purchasing, Fleet and Distribution Section. The Section is responsible for procuring approximately $100 million of goods and services annually. This position plans, develops, manages and coordinates service and commodity needs for DOT. This position will be responsible for procurement of many complex commodities and services, applying such purchasing techniques as the Request for Proposal (RFP) and Request for Bid (RFB) processes. The incumbent in this position must possess technical knowledge in multiple commodities and services and expert knowledge of the laws, rules and regulations governing state procurement. This position will interact with DOT management, Regional Offices, the Department of Administration and other state agencies, Federal and local governments, and various contractors and suppliers.
