The Wisconsin State Fair Park, located in Milwaukee, is accepting applications for the Executive Director position.  This is an unclassified position within Wisconsin State Government.  The Executive Director is hired by and serves at the will of the 13 member Wisconsin State Fair Park Board.  For more information about the Wisconsin State Fair, please go to http://www.wistatefair.com.  To view a list of the benefits of employment with the State of Wisconsin, please click http://www.doa.state.wi.us/jobs/pdf_files/WIbenefits.pdf.

Job Duties:   Under the general direction of the State Fair Park Board, this position is responsible for the management of the agency and for supervising the conduct of fairs, exhibits and promotional events for agricultural, industrial, educational, and sports and recreational purposes.  The primary responsibilities are:  involvement with the operational and strategic planning; administration and management of State Fair Park Programs; financial oversight and capital projects; supervision of the senior managers and agency; maintenance of inter-agency, public and legislative liaison; and, coordination of the capital project development, agricultural promotion, Milwaukee Mile and Wisconsin State Fair Park (WSFP) Youth Foundation relations.  For further information view the position description at: http://www.doa.state.wi.us/jobs/pdf_files/exedirsfp_pd.pdf.

Special Notes:   Due to the nature of the position, a background check will be conducted prior to offer of hire. Well qualified candidates will have a minimum of a four year college degree in Business Administration; Fair Industry Management, Agriculture Business, Marketing or similar field, additional degree(s) including MBA preferred.  Five to eight years of management and supervisory experience required.  Proven leadership with emphasis in strategic planning is essential.  Previous experience in government structure and fair industry strongly preferred.  Knowledge of the agriculture industry and marketing beneficial.

Job Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:   Ability to manage preparation and provide direct oversight of budgetary and financial operations; exceptional communication and organizational skills; analytical and strategic planning experience; strong understanding of state government structure and process; and ability to work with the agency’s diverse staff and Board of Directors.
