The Department of Health Services (DHS); Division of Public Health (DPH); Bureau of Communicable Diseases and Preparedness in This advanced Mass Vaccination Epidemiologist leads the revision, development, and implementation of the Pandemic Influenza Mass Vaccination Plan. This position functions as part of a multidisciplinary team which plans and implements strategies to ensure public health operational readiness for pandemic influenza mass vaccination campaigns; analyzes data from a variety of sources, e.g., the Wisconsin Immunization Registry and the federal Vaccine Adverse Event Reporting System to evaluate the efficacy and outcomes of the Pandemic Influenza Mass Vaccination Program; and conducts Vaccine Preventable Disease (VPD) surveillance activities, epidemiologic investigations and epidemiologic studies related to VPDs. Duties include leading the team responsible for revising the Pandemic Influenza Vaccine Distribution Plan, procedures and guidelines; coordinating the implementation of the Pandemic Influenza Mass Vaccination Program with partners, stakeholders and the general public; evaluating the Pandemic Influenza Mass Vaccination Program to describe vaccine uptake and identify the occurrence of adverse events; and leading Vaccine Preventable Disease (VPD) surveillance activities, epidemiologic investigations, epidemiologic studies, and evaluation activities. Qualified candidates will have a degree in a Public Health related field, preferably a Master’s degree in Public Health. Job Knowledge, Skills and Abilities: Knowledge of principles of program development, management, and evaluation; medical, social, and economic dimensions of a pandemic; health care services and delivery systems as they relate to influenza infection and disease; preparing, organizing, and managing the development of plans, policies, and procedures; epidemiologic methods for the control and/or prevention of diseases, morbidity and mortality; disease surveillance procedures and techniques; established and effective public health approaches to disease control and prevention; MS Excel, MS Access, MS Word, MS Power Point; advanced statistical software, including Statistical Analysis Systems (SAS), Arcview Geographical Information systems (GIS), Epi-Info 2000 and other advanced techniques; database application development; ability to analyze data, including knowledge of advanced statistical methods; ability to work independently and with others; and extensive competence in written and oral communication.
