Salary:
Starting salary is between $45,088 to $54,288 per year depending on qualifications. The pay schedule/range is 81-03. These are non-represented position. A twelve-month probationary period is required. Pay on appointment for current state employees may vary according to the applicable pay transaction provisions of the Compensation Plan and Wisconsin Administrative Code.

Are you looking for a challenging and rewarding opportunity with the Department of Children and Families (DCF) in Milwaukee?


DCF currently has two opportunities for experienced managers to serve as Area Administrators within the Child Care Provider program areas in the Milwaukee County SHARES program.  We currently have two opportunities in the Provider Certification Section.  Theses positions supervise and manage the section that provides Licensing Certification Services.  Licensing Certification includes certifying, as well as recertifying applicants, provides child care development training (in English, Hmong and Spanish), conducts home visits to providers and completes background checks prior to certification.  This section also follows up on complaints against certified providers and helps with provider training. 

Job Duties:   The Division of Early Care and Education has a need for two Area Administrator Supervisors to manage and direct staff responsible for child care provider programs in Milwaukee County .  These positions will supervise the Provider Certification Section.  Duties include implementing management policies, assigning and reviewing work of staff, evaluating staff performance and recommending corrective action when required.   This position is also responsible for coordinating the child care program services with local law enforcement agencies, Department of Health Services and other Milwaukee County public and private agencies. The positions ensure compliance with state and federal laws, administrative rules and policies; evaluates program effectiveness, develops and implements program improvements; plans and monitors consultation services, resolves complaints; and maintains and reports program data.

Job Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:   

Knowledge of effective personnel management, supervisory leaderships principles and techniques; child care provider rules; income maintenance programs; child care eligibility and Wisconsin Shares; web based applications utilized by counties in administration of the SHARES program Client Assistance for Re-employment and Economic Supports (CARES), Childcare Worker Web (CWW), Child Care Provider Information (CCPI), Child Care Statewide Administration on the Web (CSAW) and Child Care Provider Certification (CCPC).  Knowledge of and the ability to interpret Wisconsin statutes and Wisconsin Administrative Code as it relates to child care provider programs.  Skill in effectively communicating and presenting information in verbal and written form.  Ability to establish and modify workload priorities; gather and analyze data from multiple systems; maintain data integrity and prepare clear, concise reports for management use; work cooperatively with DHS staff, community based organizations, government and childcare or social services organizations; and effectively communicate and present information in verbal and written form.
