Corrections, Department of IS Systems Development Services - Senior - Prgrmr AnalystJob Announcement Code(s): 09-03214
This position performs programmer/analyst work in the overall development, implementation, testing, maintenance and support of applications. Work with Department personnel in analyzing requirements to create design or solution alternatives. Creates program specifications, develops and codes complex programs that meet business objectives and requirements. Creates test plans and conducts both unit and system testing to ensure quality deliverables. Moves components into production following established standards and procedures. Provides support for production applications. Work is performed as a member of Applications Development and Support Teams in a varied technical environment including Web-based technologies, Oracle, SQL Server, client-server, on-line and/or batch processing. Applicants must be legally entitled to work in the United States (i.e., a citizen or national of the U.S., a lawful permanent resident, an alien authorized to work in the U.S. without DOC sponsorship) at the time of application. No contracts. The Department of Corrections will conduct criminal background checks on applicants prior to selection. Upon hire, all new DOC employees are subject to fingerprinting. Job Knowledge, Skills and Abilities: Ability to use Java, C++, VB.Net, or Visual Basic programming languages (not all but at least one); SQL or PL/SQL functions for MS SQL Server or Oracle databases; knowledge of system documentation, data modeling, and testing techniques; data conversion (extract, transform, load) methods; methods to conduct interviews to gather, assemble, correlate, and analyze facts; draw conclusions there from; devise solutions to assigned problems and make recommendations; strategies to involve user in IS systems development process; methods to recognize and evaluate information management and procedural problems and recommend solutions; systems analysis processes and techniques; generally accepted business practices; ability to establish and maintain positive and effective working relationships with management, co-workers, and customers; good organizational, effective verbal and written communication skills; and ability to use good judgment and effective problem solving techniques to ensure quality deliverables.Interested applicants will apply on-line in WiscJobs, http://wisc.jobs/public/index.asp by either clicking on "Log In" to access their existing WiscJobs Account and completing a Job Search for keyword 09-03214and clicking on "Apply Now" or applicants new to WiscJobs will need to create a new account to complete an initial application then apply on-line.
