Salary:
The starting pay is between $45,088 and $74,397 per year depending on qualifications, plus excellent benefits. The pay schedule/range is 81-03. A 6-month probationary period is required. This is a non-represented position.

The Department of Corrections administers Wisconsin’s state prisons, community correctional centers, and juvenile corrections programs. It supervises the custody and discipline of all prisoners in order to protect the public and seeks to rehabilitate offenders and reintegrate them into society. The central office is located at 3099 E. Washington Ave, Madison, WI, with easy access and on-site parking.

Job Duties:   This position is responsible for the effective development and production of web-based training to be published on the DOC LearnCenter site. This includes the responsibilities of using instructional design principles to build e-learning content, developing/updating tutorials plus online resources and creating online assessments to evaluate performance. Daily maintenance and learner support on the learning management system (LMS) will be a key responsibility. This position works across agency divisions and with an outside vendor.

The Department of Corrections will conduct criminal background checks on applicants prior to selection. Upon hire, all new DOC employees are subject to fingerprinting.

Job Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:   Knowledge of online course authoring software for content, graphic design and audio files; instructional design principles as these apply to online learning ;advanced PowerPoint techniques ;practices and techniques for curriculum planning and learner self-evaluation; consulting skills to maintain cooperative working relationships. Must be able to write effective learning objectives, training content, and timelines for project management. Must know that online development work is highly technical as well as creative; understand when guidelines apply and when an innovative approach should be considered; ability to perform training needs assessment and develop corresponding online projects; and ability to learn new skills and technologies to keep pace with advances in e-learning field.
