Salary:
The starting salary is between $45,088 and $74,397 per year, depending on qualifications, plus excellent benefits. A twelve-month probationary period is required. The pay schedule/range is 81-03. This position is not represented by a bargaining unit.

Must possess a valid driver’s license or the ability to obtain one and must be able to legally carry and use firearms.

The Department of Health Services (DHS); Division of Mental Health and Substance Abuse Services (DMHSAS); Sand Ridge Secure Treatment Center (SRSTC) in Mauston has two (2) vacancies.

Job Duties:   This position administers and coordinates security functions for Sand Ridge Secure Treatment Center. This position is responsible for the direct supervision of assigned Officers; supervises other Officer staff on duty at time of shift; and performs administrative functions relative to the security function.

Special Notes:   Due to the nature of the position, all applicants who may be appointed to this position will be required to allow the Department of Health Services to conduct a background check to determine whether the circumstances of any conviction may be related to the job being filled.

A pre-employment medical examination and physical fitness test will be required to determine the presence of any physical/medical conditions which might adversely affect performance. Individuals selected will undergo an academic training program and will be required to meet physical and academic proficiency standards at the end of the training period.

Job Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:   Knowledge of principles of supervision, staff evaluation and security training for a large security staff; Wisconsin Statutes relating to criminal justice and mental health; fire safety requirements and procedures for all types of emergencies; investigation procedures and documentation detail; principles of problem-solving and conflict resolution; techniques used in ensuring security and discipline among patients; legal procedures necessary for the apprehension of voluntary and committed patients; and effective written and oral communication techniques.
