This position will provide high level administrative staff support to the Directors and the Administrator of the Research Education Core (REC) division of the Institute for Clinical and Translational Research (ICTR). The mission and aims of the ICTR are to serve investigators, promote research collaboration, and to change and grow the research culture on the UW campus and in the state of Wisconsin. The REC division will develop a diverse, multidisciplinary, clinical and translational research workforce capable of accelerating the translation of research findings into evidence-based policies and practices that improve the health of individual patients and all populations in the United States.

Job Duties:   

The University Services Associate 2 (USA 2) will assist the Directors, Administrator and staff in the management of the Education and Career Development programs that include the Graduate Program in Clinical Investigation, certificate programs, non-credit educational activities, the KL2 scholar program and T32 pre-doctoral training program. This position has primary responsibility for the smooth functioning of the REC educational programs through daily interaction with the REC and ICTR staff and affiliated faculty and staff, which are located in several schools and departments across and off campus. While the work is performed under the direction of the REC Administrator, this position works independently, has a delegated range of decision-making and is required to exercise judgment from among a range of alternatives. The position also requires excellent organizational and interpersonal skills, the ability to manage competing priorities, as well as the ability to work with independence in dealing with the diverse elements of the academic/faculty across campus and health care/physician environments. Job Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:   Excellent command of spoken and written English, grammar, spelling, punctuation; ability to work with people at all levels in a courteous and professional manner; excellent interpersonal skills, human relations skills, and verbal and written communication skills; excellent organizational and time management skills; strong word processing software/technology skill; must have experience with at least one significant word processing program; strong typing skills; database management skills; prior work experience in a clinical research setting and/or with medical student programs preferred; service support experience with physicians and/or other research personnel preferred.
