Salary:
Pay will be determined in accordance with the pay provisions of the professional social services bargaining unit at the time of appointment. The minimum starting pay is $52,621 per year, plus excellent benefits. The pay schedule/range is 12-10. A 6-month probationary period will be required. This position is included in the professional social services bargaining unit.

Candidates will have professional level experience in a criminal justice, correctional, or law enforcement environment to include assessing, evaluating, fact finding, and decision making.

The Department of Corrections administers Wisconsin’s state prisons, community correctional centers, and juvenile corrections programs. It supervises the custody and discipline of all prisoners in order to protect the public and seeks to rehabilitate offenders and reintegrate them into society. The Department of Corrections (DOC); Earned Release Review Commission (ERRC); has vacancies with institution assignments in various locations across the state. The DOC central office is located at 3099 E. Washington Ave. Madison, WI with easy access and on-site parking.

Job Duties:   Parole Commission Members are charged with parole decision-making responsibilities and related administrative tasks under the direction of the Chairperson.  Members exercise discretion in making decisions as to whether parole should be recommended or whether parole should be denied; evaluate applicants for executive clemency; communicate and interpret Commission policies/procedures to other agencies/general public; maintain knowledge of current information pertaining to parole; assist with evaluation/development of policies/procedures and research projects; and perform other administrative tasks as deemed appropriate by the Chairperson.  Parole Commission Members will work diligently with Division of Adult Institution, Division of Community Corrections and other agencies to enhance parolee’s re-entry to the community.

Applicants must be legally entitled to work in the United States (i.e., a citizen or national of the U.S., a lawful permanent resident, an alien authorized to work in the U.S. without DOC sponsorship) at the time of application.


The Department of Corrections will conduct criminal background checks on applicants prior to selection. Upon hire, all new DOC employees are subject to fingerprinting.


Travel is required.


WELL QUALIFIED CANDIDATE: Candidates will have professional level experience in a criminal justice, correctional, or law enforcement environment to include assessing, evaluating, fact finding, and decision making.

Job Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:   The individual in this position should have a high level of knowledge of adult institution management, security and treatment policies, program review procedures and methods; interpreting and applying the statutes and administrative rules pertaining to adult inmates, probation and parole offenders, and intensive sanctions offenders; human behavior and causative factors related to crime and criminal behavior; community resources, resource development procedures and correctional safeguards and controls to provide a safe community environment for citizens and offenders; public relations and techniques in order to deal effectively with public agencies, organizations, victims and their families, and offenders and their families.
