This position is in schedule/range 07-03. The starting salary, depending on qualifications is from $45,990 to $75,884. A six month probationary period is required.
Special Qualifications:
Professional training in accounting or auditing such as that which would be acquired by earning a Bachelor's Degree in accounting or auditing from an accredited post secondary college/university; or commensurate experience and training.

The Department of Transportation, Division of Motor Vehicles, Revenue Accounting Section is seeking a professional energetic candidate for an Accountant Journey position. The position is located at the DOT Hill Farms State Transportation Building, 4802 Sheboygan Ave., Madison, WI.

Job Duties:   

Provide daily, monthly and yearly reconciliation, analysis and statistical reporting of revenues collected by the DMV, which are in excess of $750,000,000 annually.  Serve on Division, Department and inter-agency teams in the planning and implementation of new programs and accounting procedures.  Reconcile the complex Registration Fee Trust Account and disburses funds collected for other agencies and municipalities.   Responsible for training of unit and other DMV staff in accounting procedures and practices relating to revenue collection and cash accountability.   Serve as expert in 6 complex DMV, DOT, and Department of Administration (DOA) financial reporting systems and 5 reporting systems provided by US Bank and DOA.  Back-up other staff as needed including customer service phones, reconciliation of cash and the bad payment recovery process. 

Special Notes:   Prior to appointment candidate will be subject to a comprehensive criminal background check that may include fingerprinting.

Job Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:   Professional accounting concepts, principles and practices.  Skill in gathering, compiling and interpreting statistical data; state budget process as it relates to the recovery and dispersal of revenues, especially of the State Transportation Fund; data processing concepts and procedures, particularly regarding job submittal and dependency; Wisconsin Administrative Rules and State Statutes particularly those relating to Motor Vehicles; written and verbal communications; departmental and state lease/purchasing procedures; and on-line vehicle registration, motor carrier and driver license issuance functions for revenue analysis.
