This position provides program support in the Office of Academic Affairs (OAA) at the JOB DUTIES: This position performs a variety of functions that are critical to the Office of Academic Affairs such as the School’s Doctor of Veterinary Medicine (DVM) admissions process which includes independently responding to general inquiries regarding admissions, maintaining applicant files and responding to applicants regarding application status, and assisting admissions staff with student open house and applicant visits; receptionist and primary Front Desk contact for students, faculty and visitors/callers responding to inquiries regarding the Program or campus policies and procedures for residency status, tuition, financial aid and housing; schedule conference rooms; make appointments for admissions and academic advising; ability to complete various clerical tasks such as merging word-processing documents, updating database files, copying and distributing materials and maintaining filing systems; sorting and routing mail; processing orders and initiating payments and preparing travel expense reports; assisting with new student orientation and other OAA-related events; and the ability to handle multiple tasks in a fast paced office while interacting effectively with faculty, students, staff. Job Knowledge, Skills and Abilities: Excellent oral and written communication skills; ability to maintain confidentiality in office/student matters; strong organizational skills including the ability to multi-task and problem-solve while maintaining a calm, professional demeanor in a fast-paced environment, and ability to organize and maintain confidential files; knowledge of or ability to learn the basics of admissions processes and educational program structures; working knowledge of basic computer programs, including email, word processing (MS Word), spreadsheets (Excel) and electronic calendaring systems; working knowledge of or ability to quickly learn ISIS, Oracle, OASIS; and open to professional development and learning new skills. You must have taken and received a passing score at the Entry level on the Office Support exam in December 2008 or later to apply for this job. You will be using your Office Support score to apply for this vacancy and you must have a current score of 70 or greater.Application information must be received by November 30, 2009.
