You will be using your Office Support score to apply for this vacancy and you must have a current score of 70 or greater.

The Department of Mechanical Engineering (ME) in the College of Engineering at the University of Wisconsin-Madison enrolls approximately 550 undergraduate students and approximately 180 MS and PhD graduate students from all over the world, and has 34 faculty members, 18 academic staff and 3 classified staff members.  This position is responsible for administrative support for the department and will be responsible to provide excellent public relations and professional skills, organizational skills, and the ability to interact positively and independently with university administration, faculty, staff, students and the community at large.  For additional information please see the following web site:  http://www.engr.wisc.edu/me/

Job Duties:   

The University Services Associate 2 (USA 2) will serve as the initial contact person for students, faculty, staff, and visitors regarding the departments many programs and activities.  This position will serve as the office manager and will work with the Department Chair to devise and establish new procedures to enhance office activity; provide support to the chairperson as well as various department committees.  Duties will include, but are not limited to; making arrangements for catering services and reserving the necessary facilities.  This position will also be responsible for distributing and collecting teaching evaluation for the faculty and teaching assistants.  This information is sent to Testing and Evaluation on campus for statistical analysis and results.

Job Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:   Excellent communication and interpersonal skills; excellent organizational and attention to detail skills; excellent problem solving skills; ability to interpret complex rules and regulations; ability to work as a team member; excellent time management skills. Must be able to work independently with limited supervision; knowledge of multiple computer applications, e.g. Microsoft Applications, PeopleSoft applications; experience working with Excel or similar spreadsheet software, Microsoft Word, WordPerfect, Adobe Acrobat, Microsoft Access or similar database software, and Outlook or similar e-mail software. The ability to operate or learn to operate scanning software and create PDF files is necessary.
