This position provides leadership in IT Quality Assurance (QA) initiatives. This position plays a critical role in ensuring that the Department of Corrections’ (DOC) QA practices, processes, and procedures are well-conceived so that BTM implements high quality systems that support the work of DOC and other State agencies. The position is also responsible for leading the QA activities for DOC IT projects. This leadership includes the general leadership and technical guidance to the development team members performing the analysis, design, and execution of effective software QA audits and software release tests. This position works with a variety of DOC, other State agency, and vendor personnel in accomplishing job duties. In particular, this position works with the DOC Bureau of Technology Management (BTM) management and staff, and agency and vendor personnel assigned to IT projects requiring QA support. Specifically, the QA Lead will be expected to manage the planning and execution of test efforts; define and implement test automation strategy; implement a set of QA processes throughout the development lifecycle; communicate on status, issues, objectives and initiatives; work with the development team in performing QA analysis; and strive to continually learn and understand latest software testing methodologies and tools to ensure a high level of expertise. Job Knowledge, Skills and Abilities: Experience performing change management and configuration management processes for a multi-platform technology environment; working with and enforcing quality assurance policies and processes in a large distributed Information Systems environment; with defect tracking/management software and ability to formulate metrics; software Quality Assurance procedures and processes; using and administering automated quality assurance tools suites, preferably the Compuware QA Center tool set; ability to identify deficiencies or areas for improvement in existing quality assurance policies and procedures in order to provide input to process improvement; well-developed interpersonal skills with the capacity to gain the co-operation and support of various branches and sections and maintain awareness of quality assurance processes; conflict management capabilities; Proactive, detail-focused problem solving skills; knowledge of relational database management systems and SQL; and strong project management skills and organizational skills.Interested applicants will apply on-line in WiscJobs, http://wisc.jobs/public/index.asp by either clicking on "Log In" to access their existing WiscJobs Account and completing a Job Search for keyword 09-03525 and clicking on "Apply Now" or applicants new to WiscJobs will need to create a new account to complete an initial application then apply on-line.
