Starting salary will depend on the qualifications and experience of the candidates but will range from $62,640/yr to $98,021/yr plus an excellent benefit and retirement package. An employee appointed to this position will be required to complete a two-year probationary period.

The Wisconsin Department of Natural Resources (DNR) is seeking a qualified individual to direct the development and maintenance of a highly reliable and secure information technology (IT) infrastructure as Director for the Bureau of Technology Services.

Job Duties:   Administer and develop the department’s information management program. Direct the development, installation and use of management systems and tools to ensure an enterprise wide approach to information technology. Identify and prioritize agency information needs and develop departmental policy; prepare, implement and maintain information technology annual and biennial processing plans and ensure department managers are informed on how local, national and international information management and technology trends and policies will impact the department’s programs. Develop and manage the bureau’s annual and biennial operating budget proposals, maintain a financial control system, and establish a process necessary to track and manage program revenue appropriations. Manage, supervise and support bureau staff. Manage computerized data resources (including geographic-based data) appropriately and securely and advise on how to maximize the utilization of this data to further the agency’s mission.

Job Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:   Knowledge of IT management systems and tools including systems design, programming standards, project management standards techniques, data and system security policies and procedures, disaster recovery strategies and status reporting processes; applications development, computer equipment and services procurement and installation, information system planning, database management and Internet technologies; the IT architectures in strategic planning; budget development, implementation and management methods and techniques; and IT policy development, implementation, management and evaluation skills. Supervisory and leadership skills.
