Salary:
The starting salary is $39,496 per year, plus excellent benefits. A six-month probationary period is required. The pay schedule/range is 03-15. This classification is included in the Wisconsin State Employees bargaining unit.

The Department of Health Services (DHS); Division of Long Term Care (DLTC); Southern Wisconsin Center (SWC) for the Developmentally Disabled in Union Grove has a third shift vacancy.

Job Duties:   This position will operate and maintain chillers, high pressure steam boilers and related systems and equipment, including air compressors, water softeners, water towers, chemical feed pumps, boiler feed pumps, condensate return systems and a stand-by power generator. The position will also operate and monitor a Supervisory Control and Data Acquisition (SCADA) program for potable water systems and boiler control. The position will also perform preventive and corrective maintenance and assist in maintaining a clean and safe working environment. This position operates the Power Plant as the only employee on a non-rotating shift and functions independently when the Power Plant Superintendent is not available.

Special Notes:   Due to the nature of the position, all applicants who may be appointed to this position will be required to allow the Department of Health Services to conduct a background check to determine whether the circumstances of any conviction may be related to the job being filled.

Special Requirements: Ability to lift 55 pounds.

Job Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:   Knowledge of operation and maintenance of steam generating equipment and ancillary power plant equipment; start up and shut down procedures for all boilers and equipment; emergency procedures and occupational safety; and water testing methods for chlorine residual and hardness. Ability to write legibly and perform record keeping and reporting; use of hand and power tools used in power plant maintenance; and work weekends and holidays and occasional overtime or extra hours.
