The starting salary will be between $22.026 and $36.343 per hour depending upon qualifications. This classification is assigned to Pay Schedule/Pay Range 07-03. Employees in project positions are eligible for benefits.
The Public Service Commission of Wisconsin (PSC) currently has a Public Utility Financial Analyst (PUFA) Senior Project vacancy located at 610 N. Whitney Way, Madison.The PSC is an independent regulatory agency dedicated to serving the public interest responsible for the regulation of Wisconsin public utilities, including those that are municipally owned.Typical types of utilities regulated include electric, natural gas, telephone, water and combined water and sewer with more than 1,100 utilities under the agency’s jurisdiction.Most of these must obtain PSC approval before setting new rates, issuing stocks or bonds, or undertaking major construction projects such as power plants, water wells, and transmission lines.Please visit the website for more detailed agency information at http://psc.wi.gov/.Job Duties:This project position conducts studies and analyzes moderately complex issues involving financial and economic implications of the following electricity-related topical areas stimulated by the American Recovery and Reinvestment Act of 2009 (ARRA): Energy Efficiency, Renewable Energy, Energy Storage, Smart Grid, Plug-in Electric Vehicles, Demand Response, Coal with Carbon Capture and Storage, Innovative and Existing Rate Structures, and Transmission.This position also assists the PUFA-Principal, PUFA-Advanced, and Economist positions in the Gas & Energy Division for complex projects involving financial and economic implications of the electricity-related areas mentioned above.Responsibilities include determination of appropriate rates of return and capital structures for electric utilities; financial implications of rate structures and ARRA programs and initiatives on utilities and their commercial and industrial customers; analyzing long-range financial and economic forecasts; and leading special projects of limited scope for moderately complex utility regulatory issues. The majority of the work performed by this position involves financial analysis. Projects typically will be in a team setting, assisting the higher-classified positions.
