The University of Wisconsin–Milwaukee (UWM), Department of Physics, Center for Gravitation and Cosmology is currently seeking a University Business Specialist. Job Duties:   Under the general supervision of the Director, the incumbent functions as the business manager in support of the Center for Gravitation and Cosmology (CGC). The University Business Specialist will be responsible for developing grant and contract budgets; monitoring research expenditures; formulating administrative policies and procedures; and coordinating the CGC visitors program. Additionally, the incumbent will oversee travel expense reporting; prepare and present financial reports; and coordinate the schedules of the center research staff.

Job Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:   The incumbent will be required to provide courteous professional customer service to campus and external clientele. Qualified applicants must be able to understand and apply complex fiscal and administrative procedures, rules and regulations.  Applicants must also have the ability to analyze situations; develop effective solutions; handle confidential issues; work in a busy environment; establish priorities; and set deadlines. The incumbent must be able to read, analyze, and report on complex data and financial statements and use computer programs, (e.g. Microsoft Excel, Word, Access and email applications). Applicants must have knowledge or the ability to learn and troubleshoot University software packages (e.g. WISDM, WISPER, Shared Financial Systems) and commercial vendor software (e.g. Hyperion). Candidates must have a keen attention to detail; superior verbal and written communication skills; and the ability to work in a large diverse organization.
