The Department of Agriculture, Trade and Consumer Protection employs over 700 permanent and limited term employees.  The Bureau of Finance is responsible for managing budget, accounting and finances for the agency.  Finance staff work closely with staff from throughout the agency to quickly and accurately process financial transactions and address agency budgetary needs.

Job Duties:   

·         Audit, code and process payment invoices using the state’s purchase plus system.  This includes verifying the vendor, goods or services, and funding source


·         Audit, code and enter staff travel vouchers for payment in the state’s accounting system.  This includes verifying appropriate documentation and compliance with Uniform Travel Schedule Amounts


·         Assist the senior accountant with preparation and compilation of the Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP) journal entries, supporting information, and financial statements for the State’s Comprehensive Annual Financial Report


·         Assist on special projects by taking notes, scheduling meetings, compiling results of surveys, and other tasks


·         Perform research and gather data as requested.

Job Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:   

·         Knowledge of basic accounting, auditing, and bookkeeping methods.  This includes GAAP


·         Basic knowledge of purchase orders, invoices and related transactions.


·         Knowledge of Microsoft Word, Excel & Access


·         Strong oral and written communication skills
