$14.078 per hour
Special Qualifications:
This position requires frequent travel throughout the state. The selected intern must be able to provide their own transportation for work assignments and must meet state driver eligibility requirements.

Wisconsin’s Pest Survey Program provides timely information on the abundance, distribution and seasonal dynamics of established economic pests and diseases of field crops.  During the growing season, our team of entomologists and plant pathologists conduct specialized surveys in corn, potatoes, soybeans, snap beans, small grains, and alfalfa.   

Job Duties:   

Survey fields and take samples for:


·         Asian soybean rust, sudden death syndrome, frogeye leaf spot, and viruses of soybeans.


·         Viruses of snap beans and other beans


·         Late wilt disease of corn and corn viruses.


·         Diseases of small grains.


·         New diseases of alfalfa.


Assist in statewide inspections for:


·         Soybean cyst nematodes of soybeans and other beans.


·         Exotic nematodes of potatoes and potato rot nematode.


·         Stewart’s wilt of corn.

Special Notes:   This position requires frequent travel throughout the state.  The selected intern must be able to provide their own transportation for work assignments and must meet state driver eligibility requirements.

Job Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:   · Basic knowledge of plant pathology, nematology, horticulture or agronomy.
· Basic knowledge of Wisconsin agricultural crops and crop production practices.
· Knowledge of Microsoft Word, Excel & Access
