UW-Milwaukee is currently seeking to fill a vacancy for a full-time Assistant Controller position in the Department of Business and Financial Services in the Division of Finance and Administrative Affairs. UWM, a doctoral/research intensive university, is Job Knowledge, Skills and Abilities: Qualified candidates will have skill in organizing data and workflow, creative problem-solving, organizational program and policy development, and interpretation and implementation of complex procedures, rules, and regulations. The following abilities are critical to success in this position: the ability to organize and manage many diverse projects simultaneously; the ability to analyze, develop, implement, and maintain Enterprise Resource Planning (ERP) systems, specifically PeopleSoft; and the ability to create and maintain financial reports within PeopleSoft (nVision). In addition, this position requires knowledge of accounting principles, rules, and theory including internal control; knowledge of personnel practices, staff relations, employee goal setting, employee performance evaluation and discipline, and supervisory and leadership principles; knowledge of effective training procedures and programs; and knowledge of the principles and practices of total quality management and public administration. The selected incumbent will possess skill in effective long and short-range planning and assessment of operational need; the ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with administrative officials, employees, and the general public; and exceptional written and verbal communication skills. Highly-qualified candidates will have obtained a Bachelor’s degree in Accounting and/or licensure as a Certified Public Accountant.
