The starting pay is between $45,990 and $75,884 per year depending on qualifications, plus excellent benefits. The pay schedule/range is 07-03. A 6-month probationary period is required. This position is included in the Fiscal and Staff Services bargaining unit.

The Department of Corrections administers Wisconsin’s state prisons, community correctional centers, and juvenile corrections programs. It supervises the custody and discipline of all prisoners in order to protect the public and seeks to rehabilitate offenders and reintegrate them into society. The Department of Corrections (DOC); Division of Management Services (DMS); Bureau of Technology Management (BTM), central office 3099 E. Washington Ave, Madison, WI located on Madison’s east side with easy access and on-site parking.
Job Duties:
The position provides hands on quality assurance support for Department of Corrections (DOC) IT initiatives including analyzing project requirements, functional specifications, and technical documents in order to write and execute test cases and test scripts in accordance with predefined test plans; recording of defects in tracking software, including documentation of information useful in the debugging process, evaluation of test data, problems discovery, tracking, and resolution; and assisting in the development, improvement, and maintenance of QA procedures and processes at DOC; works with a variety of DOC, other State agency, and vendor personnel, other Bureau of Technology Management staff assigned to IT projects requiring QA support. This position develops, implements, maintains, and enhances test plans, test scripts, and test methodologies that ensure exhaustive testing of all assigned software systems to ensure compliance with business and technical requirements. The QA Analysts also documents the results of all performed tests, and works with the appropriate group in isolating the cause of a defect and providing detailed information to assist in resolving the problem that caused the defect. This includes the use of QA software tools that help manage, track, and automate components of the QA process.

Experience with Quality Assurance procedures and processes; using automated quality assurance tools suites, preferably the Compuware QA Center tool set; Knowledge of relational database management systems and SQL; oral and written communications skills; interpersonal skills; conflict management capabilities; problem solving and organizational skills.
