Salary:
The starting pay is between $45,088 and $65,000 per year depending on qualifications, plus excellent benefits. The pay schedule/range is 81-03. A 6-month probationary period is required. This is a non-represented position.

The Department of Corrections administers Wisconsin’s state prisons, community correctional centers, and juvenile corrections programs. It supervises the custody and discipline of all prisoners in order to protect the public and seeks to rehabilitate offenders and reintegrate them into society.  The Department of Corrections (DOC); Division of Management Services (DMS); Madison Training Center (MTC), central office is located at 3099 E. Washington Ave, Madison, WI, with easy access and on-site parking.

Job Duties:   These positions (2) are responsible for the development and delivery of training within the Department of Corrections. Responsibilities include curriculum development, presentation, coordination and evaluation of training for the Agent Basic Training program. Responsibilities also include development, presentation, coordination, monitoring and evaluation of on-going specialized staff development and training programs for DOC staff with an emphasis on direct service staff such as probation and parole agents, social workers and other treatment providers.

The Department of Corrections will conduct criminal background checks on applicants prior to selection. Upon hire, all new DOC employees are subject to fingerprinting.

Job Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:   Knowledge of the principles, practices, techniques and methods of adult education and training; varied training methods, including role plays, audiovisual aids, questionnaires, self-guided study and hands on exercises; mission, goals, and philosophy of the Department of Corrections and the Division of Community Corrections; developing agency training programs, plans, course outlines, and in establishing agency training objectives and determining needs; interpersonal skills and team building techniques; methods of conducting staff development and training activities; basic management skills including delegation, time management, prioritization, monitoring and accountability; policies, procedures, concepts, and objectives within area of training specialization; and skills and abilities to develop working relationships with trainees, peers and administrative/management personnel.
