Salary:
The minimum starting pay is $27,478 per year plus excellent benefits. The pay schedule/range is 81-05. A 6-month probationary period will be required. This is a non-represented position. Salary will be based on compensation plan rules.

The Department of Corrections administers Wisconsin’s state prisons, community correctional centers, and juvenile corrections programs. It supervises the custody and discipline of all prisoners in order to protect the public and seeks to rehabilitate offenders and reintegrate them into society. The Department of Corrections (DOC); Division of Management Services (DMS); Bureau of Technology Management (BTM), central office 3099 E. Washington Ave, Madison, WI located on Madison’s east side easy access and on-site parking.

Job Duties:   This position provides administrative services to the Bureau Director, BTM Management, and the BTM department. The position is accountable for the management of the office of approximately 90 full-time, limited employees, contractors, and managers; numerous, multi-faceted special projects, cutting across Bureau, Region, and Division lines; and requires the use of a high level of independent judgment. This position is responsible for preparing specialized documents, charts, reports, and other materials for internal bureau use and for demonstrations or presentations at DOC offices and sites around the State and country. The position involves handling and preparing correspondence which impacts the employee/employer relationship, including hiring, grievance responses, and disciplinary letters. The duties of this position include the responsibility for preparing policies and procedures for internal Bureau operations in personnel, purchasing, and computer security. This position functions as BTM’s liaison for building maintenance issues and space management.

The Department of Corrections will conduct criminal background checks on applicants prior to selection. Upon hire, all new DOC employees are subject to fingerprinting.

Job Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:   Knowledge of office management procedures and techniques; professional office policies, procedures, and organizational structure; presentation and communication methods including interacting with all levels of management, technical, and office staff; working knowledge of Microsoft Office products-Word, Excel, Access, Outlook, PowerPoint, etc.; knowledge of computerized information systems; statistical methods, concepts, and procedures; purchasing guidelines, policies, and procedures; space management policies and practices; ability to collect, compile, examine, and evaluate data/information; work independently setting own priorities to meet the demands of the job; excellent oral and written communications skills; and organizational and planning skills.
