Salary:
The starting pay is between $45,008 and $74,000 per year. P&P Analyst Advanced (07-03) is included in the Fiscal & Staff Services bargaining unit. P&P Analyst Advanced Confidential (81-03) is a non-represented position.

The Department of Corrections administers Wisconsin’s state prisons, community correctional centers, and juvenile corrections programs. It supervises the custody and discipline of all prisoners in order to protect the public and seeks to rehabilitate offenders and reintegrate them into society.  The Department of Corrections works to keep Wisconsin safe through the completion of our mission and vision to reduce criminal behavior and restore a sense of safety to victims and the community.  Ensuring the success of our mission requires careful analysis of our programs, processes and outcomes to continually improve the most effective and appropriate evidence-based strategies.  The Department of Corrections is currently seeking qualfied applicants interested in joining our team of professionals in the pursuit of program, policy and process assesment and improvement.


We have multiple openings including both permanent and project permanent positions in our divisions of Juvenile Corrections and Community Corrections as well as the Office of Research and Program Management (ORPM).  All of the positions will work out of our Central Office location at 3099 East Washington Avenue, in Madison, WI (Dane County - Code - #13).


Please note:  Applicants who pass this exam will be placed on the register for consideration for all positions.  Identification of applicant preferred position(s) will be identified at a later date during the selection process.

Job Duties:   

These positions are responsible for a wide range of planning, program and policy analysis and facilitation activities for the development of strategies and policies for department or division programs and systems. These positions function as part of the DOC analysis team comprised of counterpart staff from divisions and the ORPM, budget staff and IT staff to ensure a robust measurement and assessment plan including issue and problem identification, process improvement, measurement, evaluation and reporting of the findings.  Positions in the ORPM will act as the Department's representative in cross-systems development of coordination and collaboration between outside agencies and DOC internal reference groups identifying and implementing the recommended changes.

Special Notes:   

All applicants who may be appointed to these positions will be required to allow DOC to conduct a thorough criminal background check prior to selection to determine whether the circumstances of any conviction may be related to the job being filled.  Upon hire, all new DOC employees are subject to fingerprinting.

Job Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:   

Knowledge of methods to conduct interviews to gather, assemble, correlate, and analyze facts; draw conclusions there from; devise solutions to assigned problems; and make recommendations; knowledge of methods to recognize and evaluate information management and procedural problems and recommend solutions; knowledge of system analysis process and techniques; skill in oral and written communication; skill in interpersonal communication; ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with management and other professionals; knowledge in the use of information systems, data extraction, preparation and analysis, and report generation; knowledge of group leadership and facilitation techniques; knowledge of policy and program evaluation principles and practices.
