Type of Employment:
Full Time (40 hrs/week)
Part Time (less than 40 hrs/week)
Evening 2nd Shift (3pm to 11pm or similar hours)
Evening 3rd Shift (11pm to 7am or similar hours)
Seasonal (minimum of 600 hrs/year but less than 1828 hrs/year)

Some positions require a minimum typing speed and accuracy level in addition to the exam.  Please see Typing Test Information.

Job Duties:   Duties vary by position but may include performing receptionist duties; scheduling appointments, meetings and travel arrangements; keeping records and writing reports; ordering supplies, training other employees; and providing program or administrative support.  Advanced positions may serve as program support experts, process experts, and customer service experts.

Special Notes:   A criminal background check may be required prior to appointment.

Entry Level Positions (pay schedule - range): Criminal History Records Specialist (02-08), Criminal History Records Specialist - Senior (02-09), Document Production Assistant (02-08), Document Production Assistant - Lead (02-09), Offender Records Assistant 1 (02-10), Office Associate (02-09), Revenue Tax Assistant - Entry (02-08), Revenue Tax Representative - Entry (02-08), Tax Representative 1 (02-09), Technical Typist (02-08), University Services Associate 1 (02-09). 
Intermediate Level Positions (pay schedule - range): 
Disability Associate (02-10), Investigative Associate (02-10), Office Operations Associate (02-10), Police Service Associate (02-10), Purchasing Associate (02-10), Tax Representative 2 (02-11), University Services Associate 2 (02-10), Visitor Service Associate (02-10).
Advanced Level Positions (pay schedule - range):  Academic Department Associate (02-11), Academic Department Specialist (02-12), Consumer Complaint Program Associate (02-11), Disability Program Associate (02-11), License/Permit Program Associate (02-11), Operations Program Associate (02-11), Program Assistant - Confidential (81-05),  Program Assistant Advanced - Confidential (81-05), Real Estate Program Associate (02-11), Secretary Confidential (81-05), Tax Representative 3 (02-11), and University Services Program Associate (02-11).

The starting pay rates are:
02-08     $ 11.958
02-09     $ 12.924
02-10     $ 13.968
02-11     $ 15.106
02-12     $ 16.338

81-05     $13.16 (minimum)

Job Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:   Ability to follow modern office practices and procedures; basic computer skills; keyboard skills; well-developed interpersonal and written communication skills; basic math, record maintenance; and file management skills.

How To Apply:   A multiple-choice exam will be administered on Saturday, August 14, 2010 at 8:30 a.m. or at the Make-up Exam Center on Monday, August 16, 2010 at 5:00 p.m.

Pre-registration is required.  To register on-line, select "Log in to Apply" or "Apply Now", you will either log in to your account or create a new account if you do not have one. Note:  Creating a job cart is not pre-registering to take the exam. The registration process will require you to do the following:


  • Verify/update your personal information including e-mail address (select continue at the bottom of the page);

  • Select your job preferences (select continue at the bottom of the page); and

  • Indicate your preferences where you would take the exam (select save and continue to save your response then save and finalize to finalize the exam).

After you complete the on-line pre-registration process, you will receive a confirmation via e-mail, if you provided an e-mail address.  If you do not provide an e-mail address, you will need to write down your Wisc.Jobs Applicant ID number and bring it with you to the exam center.  Note:  If you do not receive a confirmation notice, please contact the Employment Services Center at ESC@wisconsin.gov or (608) 266-1731 before the registration deadline date.  We are not responsible for undeliverable e-mails or incomplete registrations.

If you are unable to pre-register on-line, call (608) 266-1536.  Please make sure you allow ample time to receive and return your application material by the deadline date.  (On-line registration is preferred).

Note:  The pre-registration deadline is Monday, August 9, 2010.  If application material is not received or if you have not pre-registered by that date, you will not be able to test.

Retest and Reuse: You are not eligible to retest, if you took this exam within the last six months. If you took the exam within the last year, you are eligible to reuse your score.  Please check your job cart in www.wisc.jobs for exact dates.
