Evening 2nd Shift (3pm to 11pm or similar hours)
Evening 3rd Shift (11pm to 7am or similar hours)
Seasonal (minimum of 600 hrs/year but less than 1828 hrs/year)
Salary:
Facilities Maintenance Specialist $15.021 (Schedule 3, Range 12). Facilities Maintenance Specialist - Advanced $16.218 (Schedule 3, Range 13). A six month probationary period is required.

The register created from this exam will be used to staff Facilities Maintenance Specialist and Facilities Maintenance Specialist-Advanced positions statewide for the next 12 months.

Job Duties:   Facilities Maintenance Specialist - General building/grounds mechanical maintenance and repair work. Inspect, maintain and repair specialized equipment. May be responsible for some facilities repair, general carpentry, mechanicals, security systems, HVAC and energy management systems. or coordinate mechanical/facilities maintenance and repairs within an assigned area, leading crews of students, inmates, or Limited Term Employees.

Facilities Maintenance Specialist - Advanced - Advanced level mechanical/facilities maintenance and repair work. Operate, maintain and make repairs on structural, electrical, plumbing, heating, refrigeration, air conditioning and other mechanical systems and apparatus commonly used in office and institutional settings.

Special Notes:   A criminal background check may be required prior to appointment.

Job Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:   Required knowledges will vary depending on the position and facility.  Generally some knowledge or ability in carpentry, concrete, electrical, plumbing, heating, refrigeration, air conditioning, and other mechanical skills and abilities pertinent to equipment maintenance may be required.

How To Apply:   A multiple-choice exam will be administered on Saturday, August 14, 2010 at 8:30 a.m. or at the Make-up Exam Center on Monday, August 16, 2010 at 5:00 p.m.

Note:  Creating a job cart is not pre-registering to take the exam. The registration process will require you to do the following:



  • Verify your personal information including e-mail address for accuracy (select continue at the bottom of the page);

  • Select your job preferences (select continue at the bottom of the page); and

  • Indicate your preferences where you would take the exam (select save and continue to save your response then save and finalize to finalize the exam).
After you complete the on-line pre-registration process, you will receive a confirmation immediately via e-mail, if you provided an e-mail address.  If you do not provide an e-mail address, you will need to write down your Wisc.Jobs Applicant ID number and bring it with you to the exam center.  Note:  If you do not receive a confirmation notice, please contact the Employment Services Center at ESC@wisconsin.gov or (608) 266-1731 before the registration deadline date.  We are not responsible for undeliverable e-mails or incomplete registrations.

If you are unable to pre-register on-line, contact the pre-registration phone line at (608) 266-1536.  Please make sure you allow ample time to receive and return your application material by the deadline date.  (On-line registration is preferred).

Note:  The deadline for pre-registration is August 9, 2010.  If application material is not received or if you have not pre-registered by that date, you will not be able to test.


Reuse: The exam score reuse period is one year; please read the section called "EXAM SCORE REUSE".  You may reuse your score, if you took this exam on or after August 8, 2009. 

Retest:
  You are not eligible to retest, if you took the exam on or after April 10, 2010. The make-up center date is considered the same as the Saturday exam date for reuse and retest purposes.
