Starting pay is between $72,800 and $90,209 annually ($35.00-$43.37 per hour). Employees with an active Professional Engineer license are eligible for $1.00 add-on. Pay upon appointment for current or former state employees may vary based on provisions in the State Compensation Plan. This position is in pay schedule and range 81-02. A 2-year Career Executive trial period may be required.

The Department of Natural Resources is hiring two Regional Air Management Program Supervisors in the Environmental Engineer Supervisor classification within our Environmental Management Division.  The South Central Region Supervisor will be stationed in Fitchburg and the Southeast Region Supervisor will be stationed in Milwaukee.

Position Summary:   This position is responsible for the supervision and implementation of the Air Management Program within the Environmental Management Division, for integrating activities within this program within the assigned geographic area and for integration among those programs and all other DNR programs within the assigned geographic area. This position is responsible for directing and implementing all aspects of the Air Management Program.

This position is also responsible for developing, directing, coaching, mentoring and supervising permanent and limited-term staff. This position serves on the Air Management Program Management Team and is expected to be an active contributor. Customer and partner groups may include local governments, businesses, consulting firms, manufacturing industries, non-profit organizations, tribal governments, DNR staff, citizens and other government and educational representatives. This position reports to the Air Management Program Field Operations Director and directly supervises professional and technical staff in their implementation of the Air Management Program in the assigned geographic area.

Special Notes:   The successful candidates for these positions will be required to pass a criminal background check prior to appointment.

Qualifications:   To apply for these positions, you must meet at least one of the requirements below:

-Registration as a Professional Engineer,
-A degree in an Engineering field from an ABET-accredited college or university
-Engineer-in-Training (EIT) Certification
-Other record from the Department of Safety and Professional Services deeming you qualified to engage in professional engineering practice.

In addition to the minimum requirement above, additional required qualifications include experience working in a scientific or environmental position and experience providing leadership in some capacity.

Preferred candidates will have experience managing relationships with external partners or stakeholders in the regulated community.
