Starting salary is between $83,200 and $101,129 per year, depending on candidate qualifications, plus an attractive benefits package. This position is in pay schedule and range 81-01. For current or eligible former State employees, pay on appointment will be set in accordance with the Wisconsin Compensation Plan. A two-year Career Executive trial period may be required.

The Wisconsin Veterans Home at King (WVHK), a 721-bed skilled nursing facility set on 42 tree-lined acres located off Hwy 10 between Stevens Point and Appleton, currently has an opportunity for an Executive Director for one of our licensed nursing care buildings. Position Summary:   

Under the direction of the Veterans Home Administrator (Commandant), the Veterans Home Assistant Administrator (Executive Director) is responsible for administering assigned programs within an assigned building at the Wisconsin Veterans Home at King (WVHK). Responsibilities include ensuring regulatory compliance with federal, state and local regulations, providing budgetary and programmatic oversight, evaluating program performance, and supervising staff to ensure high quality care and services are provided to the members of the Veterans' Home.

Minimally-qualified applicants will have:

  • A current Nursing Home Administrator license in the State of Wisconsin or the ability to obtain such within 90 days of appointment; and
  • Experience Performing Budgetary Functions (e.g., assisting with developing and monitoring budgets, establishing priorities for resource utilization, applying principles and practices of budgeting and accounting, etc.); and
  • Experience as a Nursing Home Administrator (e.g., directing operations, ensuring compliance, formulating plans, programs and/or improvements, developing and implementing corrective plans in follow-up to regulatory surveys, overseeing procurement activities, analyzing staffing plan, applying regulatory and operational aspects of long-term health care systems, exercising administrative direction, etc.); and
  • Experience in Program Management; and
  • Experience Supervising Staff; and
  • Experience in Problem Solving

Well-qualified applicants will also have experience with Policy/Procedure Activities and Quality Assurance/Quality Improvement.
