Starting pay is $12.19/hour. Pay Range/Pay Schedule is 03-09. Current state employees pay will be based on the rules of the State Compensation Plan. A 12 month probationary period is required.

This position is located in Madison at the WI Department of Revenue, in the Business Services Bureau.

Position Summary:   

Receive, sort, and slice open all types of incoming mail.  Process outgoing mail and parcels prior to delivery to the U.S. Postal Service, U.P.S., or common carrier.  Operate postage mailing machines, UPS and Spee Dee manifest  systems, as well as folders, cutters, inserters, mail opening machines, and scales. Pick up, deliver, and sort outgoing, inter-departmental mail, and files.  Pick up receive sort and ship Bank Mail.  Pick up CAN mail, sort and prepare for mailing out. This position does include lifting, moving, or carrying of up to 55 pounds and the operation of hand and power jack equipment. This position operates under general supervision and requires exercising a high level of independent judgement and problem solving.

The Department of Revenue will conduct criminal background and tax non-filer checks on all finalists prior to offer of hire. Interview results may be reused in accordance with the State of WI interview reuse policy.

Minimally qualified candidates will have

  • Experience sorting mail or other documents

  • Experience packaging/shipping materials

  • Experience receiving materials from couriers or carriers

  • Knowledge of MS Office software

    • Well Qualified Candidates will have:
    • Knowledge of procedures for electronically metering of mail

    • Knowledge of United Postal Systems rules and regulations

    • Knowledge of General Postal Regulations
