Salary:
Starting pay for the FMS 1 is between $25.00 - $28.46 per hour, pay schedule/range 07-04. Starting pay for the FMS 2 is between $25.00- $29.61 per hour, pay schedule/range 07-03. Pay on appointment for current or former state employees may vary based on the applicable provisions in the State Compensation Plan. These positions are non-represented. A 12-month probationary period may be required.

Preview Assessment  

The Department of Natural Resources (DNR) is currently filling two Facilities Management Specialist (FMS) positions in the Division of Internal Services, Bureau of Facility and Property Management.  One position is at the FMS 1 level and will be located in Milwaukee.  The other position is at the FMS 2 level and will be located in Spooner or Rhinelander.  The FMS 1 position will serve a smaller amount of staff and facilities in an assigned area than the FMS 2.

Position Summary:   

These positions are responsible for facilities management at department staffed facilities within their assigned geographic area to provide safe and efficient services for internal and external customers.  These positions provide cross-program integration related to facility operations, leadership, developing partnerships, conflict resolution, and customer service.

These positions will work with other Facilities Management Specialists / Facilities Operations Managers (FOMs) throughout the state to ensure consistency and to develop and/or adhere to best practices.  The FOM is responsible for facilities management functions (space, security, maintenance, parking, Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA) accessibility, property inventory, and safety and risk management) and works collaboratively and independently with department staff to resolve issues as they arise, involving appropriate management staff as needed. 

These positions have area wide responsibilities. Travel within the area occurs frequently with periodic statewide travel for meetings and training.  These positions may be assigned responsibility for facilities outside of the assigned geographic area in which they are located as needed. 

Special Notes:   Selected candidates will be required to pass a criminal background check prior to appointment.

Qualifications:   

Required Qualifications:

1. Office space management methods and techniques- including the ability to plan and coordinate physical office space moves.

2. Interior building maintenance and operations- including interior building wall and floor maintenance, HVAC systems, plumbing, electrical, security, and telephone systems, and general safety.

3. Building site maintenance operations- including landscaping, parking lots, sidewalks, general safety and security precautions.

4. Skill in building effective work relationships and partnerships with internal and external customers.

Preferred Qualifications:

1. Experience serving as the site liaison for management of maintenance and operations for one or more buildings in an assigned area.

2. Ability to work independently with minimal supervision.
