Starting pay is between $54,080 and $64,480 annually ($26.00 - $31.00 per hour). Pay on appointment for current or former state employees may vary based on the applicable provisions in the State Compensation Plan. This position is in Pay Schedule/Range 15-03.
The Department of Natural Resources is hiring multiple Transportation Liaisons in the Environmental Analysis & Review Specialist- Advanced classification within our External Services Division. These positions will be stationed in Wisconsin Rapids and anticipate a future position in Eau Claire.

The position is in the Environmental Analysis and Sustainability (EAS) program and has the broad responsibility for implementing transportation liaison and environmental analysis work activities in assigned counties. This position provides integrated project management and coordination on the following tasks: transportation project reviews; Wisconsin and National Environmental Policy Acts (WEPA and NEPA) analysis; and coordination of environmental document reviews for major state and federal actions. This position is delegated authority to serve as a liaison for state and local transportation project reviews. This position will routinely coordinate with the supervisor, other regional program staff, Central Office staff, and other Department experts as needed. This position also requires substantial contact with various units of local, state, and federal government, professional consultants, contractors, and the general public.
Employment will require the selected candidate to pass a background check. The DNR does not sponsor work visas, thus, in compliance with federal law, all persons hired will be required to verify eligibility to work in the United States, and to complete the required employment eligibility form upon hire.
To be considered for this position, required qualifications include: 1. Coordinating environmental project review of complex projects (e.g. serving as primary project contributor, seeking input from multiple natural resource experts and outside agencies, and summarizing natural resource protection issues and solutions) 2. Assessing short and long-term project impacts on water resources (waterways, wetlands, surface and ground water)
In addition, preferred qualifications include: 1. Evaluating best management practices for storm water and erosion control on construction projects, highlighting any experience with transportation projects 2. Experience with assessing roadway projects for water resource impacts
