Starting pay is between $12.50 and $17.25 per hour. Pay on appointment for current or former state employees may vary based on the applicable provisions in the State Compensation Plan. This position is in Pay Schedule/Range 15-04.

These positions will work for the South East District Recreation Operations staff for the Bureau of Parks and Recreation. Parks and Recreation Specialists are often responsible for a combination of outdoor maintenance/grounds keeping work in addition to providing customer service for property visitors/campers at the entrance station. Parks and Recreation Specialists often operate machinery such as UTV's, ATV's, chainsaws, hand tools, power tools, mowers, tractors and other motorized vehicles. One position will be splitting time between normal duties and Boat Access maintenance/Security.
This is a limited term (LTE) position. Limited term positions do not automatically lead to or enjoy the same benefits as permanent employment, but this position does offer valuable work experience and an opportunity to learn more about career opportunities with the Department of Natural Resources and the State of Wisconsin. LTE employees are limited to working 1039 hours within a twelve-month period. In order to be considered for this position, you must be a resident of the State of Wisconsin.
Employment will require the selected candidate to pass a background check. DNR does not sponsor work visas, thus, in compliance with federal law, all persons hired will be required to verify eligibility to work in the United States by completing the required I-9 form upon hire.
Minimum Qualifications: - Ability to work independently, be self-motivated and punctual. - Ability to work a modified schedule; nights, weekends, holidays, etc. - Ability to communicate effectively with co-workers and public. - Ability to work in diverse weather conditions for long periods of time. - Knowledge of Wisconsin's Natural Resources.
Preferred Qualifications: - Chain Saw, Power Tool, and Heavy Equipment experience. - Customer service and experience ability to relay Dept. rules and regulations. - Knowledge, skills and experience of general operations of equipment and maintenance. - Prior experience in towing and attaching trailers. - Ability to problem solve quickly.
