Starting pay is $10.50 per hour. Pay on appointment for current or former state employees may vary based on the applicable provisions in the State Compensation Plan. This position is in Pay Schedule/Range 02-10.

These positions work independently performing a variety of duties including camper registration and sticker sales, and providing visitor information at the various forest entrance stations. Visitor Services Associates will use electronic cash registers, credit card readers, and computerized reservation and reporting systems. Knowledge: experience in cash handling and customer service. Cash register and personal computer operation preferred. Employment: work 40 hours per week mid-May through Labor Day, must be able to work weekends, evenings, & some holidays. Some spring, fall and winter weekends are also available.
This is a limited term (LTE) position. Limited term positions do not automatically lead to or enjoy the same benefits as permanent employment, but this position does offer valuable work experience and an opportunity to learn more about career opportunities with the Department of Natural Resources and the State of Wisconsin. LTE employees are limited to working 1039 hours within a twelve-month period. In order to be considered for this position, you must be a resident of the State of Wisconsin.
Employment will require the selected candidate to pass a background check. DNR does not sponsor work visas, thus, in compliance with federal law, all persons hired will be required to verify eligibility to work in the United States by completing the required I-9 form upon hire.
Required Qualifications: - Ability to work independently, be self-motivated and punctual. - Ability to work a modified schedule; nights, weekends, holidays, etc. - Ability to communicate effectively with co-workers and public. - Ability to work in diverse weather conditions for long periods of time. - Have an interest or knowledge in Wisconsin's Natural Resources. - Must be able to provide a form of transportation from Forest Headquarters to work station every shift.
Preferred Qualifications: - Prior work experience in cash handling - Prior work experience in customer service. - Proficient in basic computer operations. - Experience in using a cash register. - Prior work experience with State Parks or Forests.
