Starting pay is between $24.00 and $28.85 per hour. Pay on appointment for current or former state employees may vary based on the applicable provisions in the State Compensation Plan. This position is in Pay Schedule/Range 09-75.

This LTE position provides legal counsel and representation to the Bureau of Air Management, particularly on Title I PSD and minor source construction permits and Title V operation permits for Utility Sources and large Industrial Sources (such as paper mills, foundries, sand mining and processing facilities, and large manufacturing operations). This is an entry level attorney position that will be dedicated to providing legal support to the Air Management Program. Applicants must obtain a Wisconsin law license by August 1, 2018. Experience practicing in the field of environmental law is preferred; demonstrated interest in the topic, including appropriate legal or non-legal coursework is required.
This is a limited term (LTE) position. Limited term positions do not automatically lead to or enjoy the same benefits as permanent employment, but this position does offer valuable work experience and an opportunity to learn more about career opportunities with the Department of Natural Resources and the State of Wisconsin. LTE employees are limited to working 1039 hours within a twelve-month period. In order to be considered for this position, you must be a resident of the State of Wisconsin.
Employment will require the selected candidate to pass a background check. DNR does not sponsor work visas, thus, in compliance with federal law, all persons hired will be required to verify eligibility to work in the United States by completing the required I-9 form upon hire.
Required Qualifications: - Law degree from an ABA accredited law school. - License to practice law in the State of Wisconsin by August 1, 2018. - Course work or experience related to the field of environmental law.
Preferred Qualifications: - Experience practicing environmental law. - Current license to practice law in the State of Wisconsin. - Superior writing and analytical skills. - Ability to communicate effectively and work cooperatively with a strong team of professional staff.
